Dear Parents,

I am writing to you regarding our parking lot before school begins and at dismissal time at the end of the day. At Mountain Valley we regard the safety of our students as an important responsibility. Unfortunately, the parking lot is no longer safe for our students. I have personally witnessed vehicles coming close to hitting children and other vehicles. Consequentially, the parking lot will be closed from 7:40 to 8:10 and again in the afternoon from 2:25 to 2:45. If you need to come into the building to see a staff member please tell the person at the parking lot entrance and they will let you enter the parking lot.

The only area to drop-off and pick up students will be the drop-off/pickup loop on the south side of the building. This will increase the number of cars in the loop so please be have patience with your fellow parents as we move cars along as quickly as possible. Also, please pull forward as far as possible in the loop so we can get students to their rides in an orderly fashion. We are usually able to clear the loop in less than ten minutes. Please try to pick up your student by pulling forward as far as possible in the loop. They can follow your car as you move forward.

I know that this will cause a concern for some parents who must drop off students close to the door due to disabilities. If your child needs to be close to the door due to a disability, please contact the office so we can make arrangements for you to bring them to the office.

If you have any questions regarding the closure of the parking lot please contact me,

Lanie Keller
